Inclusive Yoga: Community Conversation & Practice

This donation-based workshop combines a community conversation and practice on questions surrounding critical issues in yoga culture, including:

  • How can we invite a more diverse group of people into yoga spaces in Switzerland

  • How if even possible can one be a Western yoga student & teacher and not appropriate?

  • How can we give back to communities whose knowledge we use?

  • What practical ways can we adapt or change our yoga practice/teaching?

This workshop will start with a grounding meditation and open dialogue about how yoga spaces we inhabit can be more accessible, inclusive and equitable. It will be followed by a yoga asana that seeks to model cues, sequencing and approaches that aim to be more inclusive. These approaches draw from teachings and the work of amazing teachers such as Susanna Barkataki (Ignite Yoga & Wellness Institute) on decolonizing yoga; M Camelia on accessible and agency-centred yoga (@foundspaceyoga/ Found Space Yoga)
